About Madrid
The capital of Spain, located in the heart of the peninsula, is one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant cities in the world. A business center, headquarters for the public administration, government, Spanish parliament and the home of the Spanish royal family, Madrid also plays a major role in both the banking and industrial sectors.
Historic sites in the city center, such as Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace or Puerta del Sol, set the stage for an eye-opening stroll through time, while fashionable tapas and flamenco bars offer the blend of local culture and art. Worth visiting is Madrid's Avenue of Art boasting three world-renowned museums, housing works from famed artists such as Picasso, Velázquez, El Greco, and Rubens. Exquisite art can also commonly be found in the forms of architecture, sculptures, and fountains along the Calle de Alcalá, Paseo del Prado, and throughout the city. You won’t be disappointed!
