The Communications Platforms Trade Association (CP-TA) today announced that seven members have joined the organization. The new members include Adax, ADLINK Technologies, Astute Networks, Digi-Data Corporation, NMS Communications, PFU Limited and Simclair Group. CP-TA is an association of communications platform and building block providers dedicated to accelerating the adoption of SIG-governed, open specification-based communications platforms through interoperability certification.
“We’re pleased to welcome each of the new members to CP-TA. They bring additional resources and expertise to CP-TA’s interoperability efforts for AdvancedTCA, AMC and MicroTCA-based products,” said Shlomo Pri-Tal, CP-TA Chairman. “We look forward to working with them on developing enhanced versions of our interoperability documents.”
CP-TA released its Interoperability Compliance Document (ICD) and Test Procedure Manual (TPM) 1.1 in October 2007. The ICD and TPM addressed the issues of thermal, manageability and data transport interoperability for AdvancedTCA. The new members will help enhance the ICD and TPM as well as develop CP-TA tested products.
“As a developer of AdvancedTCA products it is our desire to ensure that convergence and AdvancedTCA mass-interoperability happen as soon as possible. By joining CP-TA it is our objective to help make interoperability happen faster, and to enable other emerging standards such as 10GBaseKR to be rapidly adopted in AdvancedTCA form factor,” said Doug Hynd, Director of Marketing, Simclair Group.
“PFU is a leading provider of modularized platforms in major embedded markets. PFU plans to contribute resources for CP-TA for interoperability in the platforms and introduce CP-TA certified products in the near future,” Said Yoshifumi Hashimoto, Director of Engineering, Modular businesses at PFU Limited.
“NMS Communications has been actively involved in the development of the AdvancedTCA specification, and was the first to introduce a commercially available AdvancedTCA media processing blade, the MG 7000A,” said Jamie Warter, vice president of marketing for NMS Communications. “As members of the CP-TA, we share its goal of driving a mainstream market for interoperable AdvancedTCA communications platforms. Through our work with the CP-TA, our developers no longer need to worry about AdvancedTCA hardware integration and interoperability issues, and instead can focus their time and effort on developing their unique applications and services for highly available, autonomous operation.”
CP-TA is currently addressing interoperability issues for AMC and MicroTCA. It plans to release new versions of the ICD and the Test Procedure Manual TPM in the spring of 2008.
