ISDN for Field Engineers

Course Description
This course provides an overview of ISDN basics, and teaches how to install, configure, and troubleshoot applications using NMS ISDN software. Lectures provide a fundamental understanding of ISDN as well as the features and functionality of NMS ISDN software. Hands-on exercises provide practice in installation, configuration and troubleshooting applications.

Modules

ISDN Concepts
This module presents an introduction to ISDN concepts and terminology and a more detailed look at the ISDN protocols for the Physical, Data Link and Network layers.

NMS ISDN Overview
The Overview module presents an introduction to NMS ISDN software-configurations, components, architectural and operational overview, and capabilities. It includes a brief review of Natural Access Core components and architecture.

NMS ISDN Installation and Configuration
This module teaches procedures for installing and configuring NMS ISDN software. It includes an overview of OAM keywords important to configuring NMS ISDN software, practice creating and loading an NMS ISDN configuration using oamsys, and practice using utilities such as isdndemo and dectrace to verify installation.

Troubleshooting NMS ISDN
The Trobuleshooting module teaches how to troubleshoot NMS ISDN by layer (Physical, Data Link, Network and Application). Trouble shooting tools are discussed and exercises provide hands-on experience.
