Add Voice to Novell Teaming + Conferencing

Welcome to NMS and Novell Teaming + Conferencing

Novell Teaming brings together people and the content they need to do their jobs. Users create workspaces and invite other members to participate—both from within or outside organizational boundaries. Virtual teams can easily and securely manage, share, locate and access documents, calendars, discussion forums, wikis and blogs.

Novell Teaming + Conferencing make users aware of the online availability of team members and give users the ability to instant message (IM) with team members–either individually or as a group. Adding live voice conferencing to the Novell Teaming + Conferencing allows you to add in live voice calls directly to Novell Teaming + Conferencing. By simply clicking on the add voice calls selection, you can add live voice calls to your collaborative session immediately and not have to arrange for a separate audio bridge for multiple participants.

To initiate live voice conferencing, NMS Communications offers the CG series of media processor boards and software which enables live voice calls within  Novell Teaming + Conferencing. Along with live voice calls for up to 5000 users, this option supports capabilities such as volume controls, automatic echo cancellation, and sound gain controls to insure a productive conference experience.

To add live voice calls to Novell Teaming + Conferencing, you will need to add one or more NMS CG 6060 or CG 6565 media boards to a standard server. Please review the information below to choose the right media processor to add live voice calls to  Novell Teaming + Conferencing.  Please note, Novell Teaming + Conferencing provides native support for VoIP voice calls.  For full telephony support, customers must purchase an additional software module from Sitescape.  Please view details on this module at http://www.novell.com/products/teaming/iceinterface.html.

Getting Started

To help you choose the right media board for your Novell Teaming + Conferencing, we have created two tables for your reference.

TABLE AND COLUMN TIPS:
  • The first table is for an IP only calls with Novell Teaming +Conferencing. You would use the IP only table to choose your audio board if you do not need to connect the Novell Teaming +Conference server directly to a PBX or switch.
  • The second table is used if Novell Teaming+Conferencing calls are connected via a PBX or switch.
  • The left hand column of both tables describes how many simulataneous licensed users will be using Novell Teaming+Conference. The top row of both tables describes usage ratios: Light, Medium, and Heavy.

SIMULTANEOUS USAGE GUIDLINES:
  • The Light usage ratio means that 10% of the licensed Novell Teaming + Conference users would use the live voice conference  at any one time.
  • The Medium usage ratio means that 20% of the licensed Novell Teaming + Conference users would use the live voice conference  at any one time.
  • The Heavy usage ratio means that 100% of the licensed Novell Teaming + Conference users would use the live voice conference at any one time.

EXAMPLE:

Company A wants to deploy an IP only Novell Teaming + Conference solution. Company A has 500 licensed users and they know that the users will be using the live voice feature heavily. Company A would need 3 - CG6565/64s to have enough conference capacity on the server.

Below each table are the recommended  maximum live voice users per board
