4 Verifying The Installation

4.1 Introduction

This chapter:

Explains what the lights on the board's end bracket indicate.

Shows how to verify that your board is working correctly.

4.2 The Status Indicator LEDs

Both the AG-T1 and the AG-E1 boards have LED indicators on the rear bracket. The following diagram indicates what each LED means:

4.3 Verifying That Your Board Is Working Correctly

To verify that the carrier signal is working properly, you can use one of the NMS line monitoring utilities:

For T1 systems, run t1stat.

For E1 systems, run e1stat.

These utilities have similar displays and command-line options. They are installed with the CT Access and AG Access software, and can be found in one of the following directories:

UNIX: /opt/nms/bin

OS/2, Windows NT: c:\nms\bin

See Appendix B for complete documentation of these utilities.

To verify the carrier signal using t1stat or e1stat:

Begin a new command session.

Start up the monitoring program by entering:

	t1stat   
	or   
	e1stat

The utility displays information like the following:

Now connect the board's receive channels to its transmit channels, as described in section 2.10.

The following should occur within a few seconds:

The green Frame SYNCH LED on the board's end bracket (shown in Figure 15) goes on;

The Red Alarm LED and the Yellow Alarm LED turn off;

The utility displays NONE next to the Alarm line on your screen, and SYNC next to the Frame Sync line.

(OS/2 and Windows NT only) You hear ascending notes from the host computer's loudspeaker.

If any of the events listed here do not occur, check the cables and the connectors.
