Introduction
- In any MVIP system, one board must drive the MVIP bus clock and all others must derive their clocks from the MVIP bus. The board that drives the MVIP bus clock is called the clock master; all other boards are the clock slaves.
- You can configure the board either as a clock master or slave. Configuration is done in software, in either of two ways:
SwitchPath is a separate NMS product. To order SwitchPath, contact Natural MicroSystems. For detailed information on SwitchPath, refer to the SwitchPath Technical Reference Manual.
- You can use the SW Utility to configure the clock mode. SW can operate
interactively, allowing you to enter commands on its command line.
Alternatively, it can operate in batch mode, reading commands from a file.
The SW Utility is automatically stored on your system when you install software for NMS switching products, including the AG Connect board. For more information on this utility, refer to the SW Utility User's Manual.
- Note that the board you use as the clock master should be connected in the middle of the MVIP bus cable in your system. For more information on installing and configuring the hardware, see Chapter 2.
