5.2 Board Function Overview
- An AG Connect board is a network board. As such, its primary role in an application is to provide an interface to telephone lines, and to route data to and from resource boards connected to it over the MVIP bus. Resource boards (such as the AG-8, AG-24 or another AG product) provide voice, image, and data processing services. They use the network boards to send and receive the data.
- The following is a list of the functions an AG Connect board can provide in your application:
- (T Connect-x and S/T Connect board models only) These board models
provide up to 24 loop-start line interfaces, for connection to the public
service telephone network (PSTN). The number of stations supported
depends upon the board model you have. See section 1.1 for a list of
available board models.
- All board models perform MVIP switching: they route data between
telephone line interfaces and the resource boards in your system over the
MVIP bus. For information about your board's switch model, see section
5.4.
- T Connect-x with Conferencing, S Connect-x and S/T Connect boards
supporttelephone conferences, where two or more parties are connected
together in such a way that any party can speak to and/or hear any other
party. For more information about conferencing, see section 5.5.3.
