3.1 Verifying Your AG Board Installation
- The agmon utility is used to verify your AG board is installed and configured correctly.
- To run agmon on OS/2 and Windows NT:
- Start a command window and enter the following:
agmon
- To run agmon on UnixWare, SCO and Solaris:
- Log in as root (or become the super-user).
- If you have a graphical user interface, start a terminal session (shell prompt).
- Enter the following:
agmon
- When invoked with no arguments, agmon looks for ag.cfg in the AGLOAD search path. agmon first interprets the configuration file, then loads the specified files to the AG boards. If loading is successful, the program continues to monitor the AG board(s) for errors.
- agmon creates two files in the current directory, ag.rpt and agerror.log. The ag.rpt file contains a summary of the board configuration, including names of files which were loaded, and any errors that occurred in loading. You can specify another configuration file using the -f switch.
- Errors that occur are displayed in the agmon session and appended to the error file, agerror.log. The agerror.log file contains runtime errors that are not specific to any line or port. See Appendix A for details about the error format, and for error codes. The file remains open for one second after an error is written. You can specify an alternate error file name and path with the -e option to agmon.
- For more details on the command line options used with agmon, see Chapter 5.
Note: It is strongly recommended that you leave agmon running at all times so errors will be captured.
