2.8 Offline File Conversion

You must continue processing events during an active fax session. File I/O intensive operations, such as TIFF-F conversion verification, must not interfere with the handling of events and cause the fax session to time out. Events should be processed within three seconds.

Before transmitting a fax, you may convert a file's image characteristics offline with the nfxConvertFileDirect function. Using the nfxConvertFileDirect function, you specify the input file, the output file, and the desired image characteristics.

NaturalFax requires a TIFF-F file to have the same image format for all of its pages. If a file has different image formats on its pages, you can use nfxConvertFileDirect to convert it to a file with a single image format for all of its pages. If you do not want to lose the resolution contained on some of the pages, you can split the file into multiple files each of which contains one page by calling nfxSplitFile. Splitting the file does not alter the image format of any of the pages.

In order to transmit multiple pages which are in separate files as a single document, call nfxMergeFile to combine the pages into a single document. Merging the file does not alter the image format of any of its pages.

Calling nfxCheckTIFF verifies that a document is in the correct format for transmission by NaturalFax.
