Appendix F

Country-Specific Parameters

About the Parameter File

To adapt your configuration to a specific country or installation (e.g., special PBXs or network), a default set of parameters is automatically loaded when initializing the ADI service on a QX board. Depending on the default country selected on your system, the QXLOAD environment variable contains the directory path of the country configuration files.

The default parameter file appears under the filename prprtcty.par, where pr is the product reference (e.g., q4 for QX 2000/100-4L), prt is a three-letter mnemonic indicating the name of the protocol (e.g., lps for loop start), and cty is the three-character ISO 3166 code of the target country (e.g., fra for France, usa for United States).

Note: All the configuration files of the selected countries are stored at installation time in the destination directory (e.g., c:\nms\qx\ctry\usa).

The country-specific parameter file contains all of the parameters that enable the protocol to adapt to the local implementation of a specific country.

Most of the parameters specified in the parameter file must not be changed. However, you can add or modify some parameters (specifying digit handling, debugging operation, and miscellaneous options) based on the needs of your application.
WARNING:

Changing the default parameters in country-specific parameter file may affect the regulatory approvals in the target country, and can cause the application to malfunction.

Loading Parameter Files

The country-specific parameters in the file follow the standard NMS API parameter syntax.

Depending on the needs of your application (use of global default parameters or local process parameters), you can load the parameters either with ctdaemon or with the ctaLoadParameterFile function.

Refer to CT Access Developer's Reference Manual for detailed information.

Automatically Repeated Call Attempts

Your application must include, for certain countries, the control of calls internally generated by the equipment. Failing in implementing this regulatory requirement will void the regulatory approval granted to NMS for this NMS equipment. The requirements for each country are listed here.

Notes:

Australia: For equipment with a service tone detector, a maximum number of 10 is allowed. The Call Attempt Series parameters apply to the Equipment without distinction between wrong number and ineffective call. Maximum intervals between numbers is 12 mn.

Japan: There is a choice between the 2 requirements.

New Zealand: Not more than 5 call attempts to the same number within a 60 mn period with a minimum of 60 seconds between attempts, and a total of 10 call attempts to the same number, are allowed.
