5.1 Introduction

The editing functions let you access and modify data in a voice object without actually playing or recording. You can open a file and edit it without needing a voice board.

The Voice Message service provides functions for the following editing tasks:

5.1.1 Copy

If you want to...

Then use...

Create or replace a message in a destination object with a copy of a message in a source object

vceCopyMessage

The vcecopy demonstration program demonstrates copying messages from one voice file to another. Refer to Section 9.2.1, Voice File Copy/Convert Program: vcecopy for more information.

5.1.2 Erase

The following table lists when to use the erase functions available in the CT Access Voice Message service:

If you want to...

Then use...

Remove an entire message from a specified voice object by changing the message size to zero (0)

vceEraseMessage

Remove a specified number of milliseconds of data at the current position in the current message

vceErase

5.1.3 Read/Write

The following table lists when to use the read/write functions available in the CT Access Voice Message service:

Then use...

Read data at the current position in the current message

vceRead

Write data at the current position in the current message

vceWrite

5.1.4 Convert Encoding or Amplitude

Change the encoding format or the amplitude of a message
