Utility


AG Board Locate Utility: blocate

Name

blocate

Purpose

Used to determine the PCI bus and PCI slot assignments for all NMS PCI boards installed in the system.

Note: If you have installed the hot swap software, you can use the pciscan utility instead of blocate. For more information about pciscan, refer to the Hot Swap Developer's Manual.

Usage

blocate [ pci_bus pci_slot]

If blocate is called without any command line options, it returns the locations for all PCI AG boards in the system.

When run with command line options, the specified PCI board will flash a locator LED. The options are:

pci_bus pci_slot

Specifies the PCI bus and slot location of the board on which to flash an LED.

Description

Displays the PCI bus and PCI slot number for all NMS PCI boards installed in the system. Also, flashes the LED on a specified PCI board.

Procedure

To run blocate, enter the following:

blocate

The following is displayed:

Thu Jul 10 15:51:22 There were 2 NMS AG PCI cards detected

BUS SLOT INTERRUPT
00 14 0xf
00 15 0xf

The board configuration is also logged to the ASCII text file with the current date and time. The file pci_cfg.txt is created in the current working directory.

To flash an LED on a specific NMS PCI board, call blocate with the PCI bus and PCI slot locations. For example:

blocate 0 14

The following will be displayed:

Flashing LED for NMS PCI board on bus 0 slot 14

The locator LED on the end bracket will flash.

Note

agmon should not be running when executing the AG board locate utility. An error message will be generated and blocate will exit.
