2.1 Introduction
- This chapter describes how to install the AG CAS product under Windows NT and UNIX.
- You can install AG CAS software in any of the following ways:
- From the Natural Access CD-ROM, using the setup program on the CD-
ROM that is specific to the AG CAS software package. If you are installing
the software this way, refer to the procedures in this chapter for installation
instructions.
- From a package downloaded from the NMS web site (www.nmss.com). To
install the software this way, follow the instructions on the web site to
download and uncompress the package. Then refer to the procedures in this
chapter for installation instructions.
- This chapter describes how to install AG CAS alone. However, keep in mind that AG CAS requires some of the software contained in the Natural Access CD to operate.
Note: Before installing a new version of the AG CAS software, make sure you have removed any previous versions.
2.2 Installing Under Windows NT
- This procedure describes how to install the AG CAS software for Windows NT 4.0. This procedure is applicable if you wish to install from:
- The Natural MicroSystems Natural Access CD-ROM, using the installation
program on the CD-ROM specific to AG CAS.
- You can also use the Natural Access setup program to install this package from the CD-ROM. To learn how to install the software this way, refer to the booklet that comes with the CD-ROM for installation instructions.
- Log on as a member of the Administrators group.
- Start the AG CAS setup program:
- If you are installing from a package downloaded from the NMS web
site, "unzip" the package into a directory. Navigate to the directory, and
start setup.exe.
The setup program starts.
- Answer the prompts as they appear.
The setup program asks you for the following:
- The type of installation (Typical, Compact, or Custom).
- The protocol(s) you want to install (for some protocols you are
required to specify the country of operation).
- The installation program proceeds to install AG CAS software.
2.3 Installing Under UNIX (Unixware and Solaris)
- This procedure describes how to install the AG CAS software for UnixWare 2.1, UnixWare 7, or Solaris 2.6. This procedure is applicable if you wish to install from:
- The Natural MicroSystems Natural Access CD-ROM, using the installation
script on the CD-ROM specific to AG CAS.
- You can also use the Natural Access installation script to install this package from the CD-ROM. To learn how to install the software this way, refer to the booklet that comes with the CD-ROM for installation instructions.
- Access a command prompt, and log in as root.
- Insert the Natural Access installation CD into the CD ROM drive.
- For UnixWare, mount the CD by typing
mount -F cdfs -r /dev/cdrom/c1* mountdirectory
where mountdirectory is your chosen mount directory.
Solaris auto-mounts the CD when it detects its existence, or you can mount it from the desktop by double-clicking on the appropriate icon. The Solaris mount directory is /cdrom/cdrom0.
- Start the installation script by typing:
pkgadd -d mountdirectory ag-cas
- Specify The protocol(s) you want to install (for some protocols you are required to specify the country of operation).
The installation program copies software files from the CD to the designated drive.
- Unmount the CD directory my typing:
umount mount directory
- When you finish installing protocol software, edit the appropriate AG configuration (ag.cfg) file as described in Chapter 3.
