1.1 About the TX 2000/TX 3000 Boards

The TX 2000/TX 3000 boards provide a powerful hardware platform for a variety of communications and networking applications.

The modular design is based on an intelligent Communication Processor (CP) which plugs into a single ISA bus slot. The CP cooperates with the ISA bus host processor (IBM PC/AT) to form a distributed communications application platform. Interface adapters are connected directly to the multiprotocol processor for high throughput without intervention from the computer's processor.

The CP features a high-performance 68360 quad-integrated communications controller with a 16-bit ISA bus interface. Plug-in adapter boards are available for Ethernet connectivity (10 Base-T), Dual T1, Dual E1, sub-360 processing upgrades, and a V.35 serial interface.

The TX 2000/TX 3000 board CP is software programmable for a wide variety of applications. Networking software packages include Signaling System 7 and Fusion for Telephony over IP. Interfaces are available for Windows NT, UnixWare 2.x, and Intel Solaris to permit access to applications and protocol stacks running on the communications processor.
