Introduction to ActiveAG

The ActiveAG ™ ActiveX control is designed to make development of computer-telephony applications faster. It can be used with development tools such as Microsofts Visual Basic, Borlands Delphi, and PowerSofts PowerBuilder. ActiveAG also works with other development environments that support ActiveX components, such as Microsofts Visual C++ and Borlands C++ Builder. The choice of which language to use is up to you, the developer.

ActiveAG presents many methods, property, and event interfaces to give your program full control over your telephony hardware. In total, there are over 80 of these interfaces -- they provide you with a tool that is simple to use but still gives you the full power of your hardware.

ActiveAG features an advanced, multi-threaded architecture. That is, ActiveAG is internally multi-threaded, so your program gets the speed and reliability benefits of multi-threading without your having to develop any thread code.

While ActiveAG was designed to meet as many different requirements as possible, no software tool can satisfy every possible situation. To minimize these problems, ActiveAG can also give your program direct access to the underlying CT Access functions when needed. Properties have been specifically included to support this. Please see the Using CT Access directly topic.

The topics below present overviews of the methods, properties, and events provided by ActiveAG:

ActiveAG was designed to run under Microsofts Windows NT operating system. At this writing, there is no support for Windows 95, IBMs OS/2, or any Unix systems. Developers who are interested in developing for Windows 95 should look into Group W Systems ActiveVBX ™ ActiveX control, which provides much of the same functionality of ActiveAG for the Windows 95 operating system and the NMS VBX (Voice Branch eXchange) hardware line. See our web site at http://www.groupw.com for more information.
